20-year sentenced upheld

The 8th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the sentencing of Clarence J. Walton (KCMO), who was convicted by a federal jury as the supplier of a crack cocaine conspiracy from his home, less than a block from Center Elementary School.

The court ruled that evidence was sufficient to support Walton's conviction for drug conspiracy and possession, and that a prior felony conviction may be used to enhance a sentence without being pleaded or proven to a jury.
