Joplin murder trial

The trial for Thomas D. Smith, charged with a 1999 double homicide in Joplin, Mo., as well as a conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine, has been continued. The court issued an order today, continuing the trial (originally scheduled to begin Aug. 29, 2005) to Sept. 11, 2006.

Smith was indicted on May 2, 2002, by a federal grand jury in Springfield for the murders of Paris Harbin and Chandy Bresee-Plumb on December 13, 1999. (Sorry, no news release to link to.)
