Friday Trial Update

Kansas City:

  • A federal jury convicted Michael McCourt, of Parkville, of possessing and attempting to receive and distribute child pornography this afternoon. A news release will be available at 5 p.m. on the District's Web page, which is located at www.usdoj.gov/usao/mow.
  • A federal jury returned a not guilty verdict in the Donald Hollingsworth trial this afternoon. Hollingsworth, of Kansas City, Mo., was indicted for conspiracy to manufacture meth.

Friday's Court Docket

Kansas City:

  • As of Thursday afternoon (4:30 p.m.), no verdict had been announced in the Donald Hollingsworth trial but the jury had began its deliberations. Hollingsworth, of Kansas City, Mo., was indicted for conspiracy to manufacture meth.
  • Michael McCourt's trial will continue at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 8A. Closing arguments are expected to be given Friday morning. McCourt was indicted on child pornography charges.

Jefferson City:

  • James William Rogers, of Jamesport, Mo., has a scheduled sentencing hearing on Friday. Rogers was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
  • Leroy Perry, of Columbia, Mo., has a change of plea hearing scheduled to take place on Friday. Perry was indicted for illegal possession of a firearm.
  • John Robert Carroll, Jr., of Columbia, Mo., has a change of plea hearing scheduled to take place on Friday. Carroll was indicted for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
  • Dietrich Dennis Burtchell, of Gravois Mills, Mo., has a change of plea hearing scheduled to take place on Friday. Burtchell was indicted for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
  • Mario Godinez-Mendez has a change of plea hearing scheduled to take place on Friday.
  • Mickael Dickson has a scheduled change of plea hearing that will take place on Friday.

Springfield:

  • Grand jury is in session and returns are expected in the morning hours.
  • Amy C. Lawrence has a change of plea hearing scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. in the Magistrate Courtroom.

  • Darrell D. Walker, of Kansas City, Mo. , is scheduled to be sentenced at 1:30 p.m. for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
  • David L. Taylor, of Joplin, Mo., has a sentencing hearing at 9:30 a.m. in Kansas City. Taylor is a former attorney and was convicted of defrauding his clients of more than $500,000.
Nothing newsworthy to report in Springfield or Jefferson City.

Kansas City:
  • Donald Hollingsworth's trial will continue 8 a.m. in Courtroom 8C. Hollingsworth, of Kansas City, was indicted for conspiracy to manufacture meth.
  • Michael McCourt's trial will continue at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 8A. McCourt was indicted on child pornography charges.
  • Steven S. Jones is scheduled to appear for a sentencing hearing at 10 a.m. in Courtroom 8B.
  • Richard A. Pryor is scheduled to appear for a change of plea hearing at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 8B.

No sentencing hearings or change of plea hearings are scheduled for Springfield or Jefferson City.
