Former superintendent's report made public

In a rare ruling, the court ordered that the presentence investigation report of former school superintendent Ronnie DeShon -- sentenced this week for embezzling from the school district -- be made available to the public. The presentence report is a confidential investigation by the U.S. Probation Office that is submitted to the court to assist in sentencing. Because of the unique public interest in this case, however, the court has opened the report -- with the exception of some personal information -- to the public.

A copy of DeShon's presentence report is available here.

Our press release announcing the sentencing is available here.

Helder was found guilty by a trial jury of attempting to entice a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity, but the conviction was set aside by the court, which granted the defendant's motion for acquittal.
